Events Mac Davenport Saturday, March 15 9:30am-2pm | Prue's House at Hilltop | 9600 Mandus Olson Rd Join us at Grand Forest Drop-in Day for an opportunity to explore the Grand Forest East and get involved with the Land Trust's effort to protect it! Learn about the Stand for the Grand Forest campaign and connect with partners at our drop-in Open House, volunteer at the hands-on conservation work party, hit the trails on a guided nature walk, or go for an outdoor adventure with our forest scavenger hunt! Hosted by the Bainbridge Island Land Trust, with support from the BI Parks & Trails Foundation and the BI Metro Park & Recreation District. Open House 9:30am-2pm • Prue's House Drop in to learn about the history of the Grand Forest East & our community-led effort to protect it! Chat with campaign partners from the Bainbridge Island Land Trust and BI Parks & Trails Foundation, as well as local conservation experts. Bagels and light refreshments will be served. This is a free, come-and-go event—no registration is needed for the open house. Scavenger Hunt 9:30am-2pm • Start at Prue's House Go on an adventure to discover details in the forest and search for Hooty the Owl hidden in the trees. Fun for curious minds of all ages! Drop in to Prue's House at anytime during the open house to pick up your Scavenger Hunt sheet. Complete the scavenger hunt to win a prize! Find Hooty the Owl! Conservation Work Party 10am-12pm • Meet at Prue's House The Bainbridge Island Land Trust and the BI Metro Park & Recreation District will be leading a joint work party in the Grand Forest East, initiating our ongoing partnership to restore and steward this treasured land. Events Mac Davenport Embrace the winter dark and expand your senses on the winter solstice! Led by the Land Trust's Conservation Director, Gina King, and Community Education Coordinator, Megan Rohrssen, this hour-long guided walk at Rockaway Bluff Preserve* is a unique opportunity to observe nocturnal wildlife, view the Seattle skyline, and experience the forest in a new way after dark. Enjoy complimentary hot cocoa and cider following the walk. Red-light flashlights will be provided to better preserve your night vision. REGISTRATION IS NOW FULL. Thank you all for your interest! WHEN: Saturday, December 21, 2024 Session 1: 6:00pm-7:00pm | Session 2: 7:30pm-8:30pm Please register for one session only. WHO: Open to all. We ask that you not bring dogs in order to minimize disturbance to the Preserve's habitat and inhabitants. Children are welcome under close adult supervision. Groups are limited to 10 total attendees per session. WHERE: Meet at the entrance to Rockaway Bluff Preserve. Carpool if possible because parking is limited. Please park by the mailboxes at the bend in Creosote Hill Rd, and avoid blocking any driveways. HOW TO REGISTER: Please make a $5 suggested donation per attendee at time of registration (additional donations are always welcome.) We’ve just released our 2024 Plant Catalog, available here. It includes detailed information on the native plants we’ll have available, along with some helpful planting tips.
