The Bainbridge Island Land Trust holds conservation easements on both private and public properties, but does not own the land. BILT does own 7 properties which include the Wildlife Corridor (acquired in 1995) and 19 acres adjacent to the Grand Forest known as the Heart of the Forest (acquired in 2007). In addition, BILT is the owner, as of November 2011, of the critically located Hilltop. Two other small parcels were donated to BILT and are held "in fee". In December 2012, we purchased two more properties, the 5 acre Hedderly-Smith Property which is contiguous with the SE corner of the Hilltop Property and the West Bainbridge Shoreline Protection Property (WBSP). This property is 11.87 acres (including tidelands) of high priority undeveloped, unarmored shoreline along Agate Pass.
